Working on the Laptop at night can be strenuous given the amount of light given off by the screen. Following up on an app suggestion I came across while weeding though my feeds, I found this little application called Flux. This app changes the system’s screen to switch to warmer colors in the nights, which really cuts down the strain on the eyes.
I was a bit sceptical when I read about the app, but I went ahead and installed it on my laptop. The settings are pretty simple, just open the app, choose your location. This for the app to figure out what the sunset time in your location is, so it can start switching over to the warmer night mode display.
The app also allows you to choose the lighting at your place, to compensate for while changing over to night mode.
Of course, changing the display like this doesn’t work well if you are working on graphics or photos, since the colors displayed on screen will seem warmer than the photo’s colors actually are. So the app also has a option to disable the night mode for an hour while you work your way through those images.
Flux is available for Mac, Windows, Linux & jailbroken iPhone or iPad as well. So give it a try and let me know what you think! Download it from here.
