Nokia initiates charger exchange program for the 7210

Defective ChargerNokia today initiated a charger exchange program in which consumers owning certain chargers which were shipped with the Nokia 7210. According to Nokia, in India, this charger exchange program is limited to charger model AC-3E only, manufactured between June 15 – August 9, 2009.

During one of their routine tests, Nokia has found these chargers had a defect. Nokia says, “The plastic covers of the affected chargers could come loose and separate, exposing the charger’s internal components and potentially posing an electric shock hazard if certain internal components are touched while the charger is plugged into a live socket.”

According to Nokia, the charger does not impact the usage or safety of the Nokia phone in any manner.

If you want to see if you have one of these chargers, head over to http://chargerexchange.nokia.comand fill in your charger details on the site and verify if your charger is part of the exchange program.

Here’s how you can get this same information through SMS. Find the 27 digit code printed on your charger and SMS this information to 55555 in this format: CHG 27-digit-code. An example of the sms is here: CHG 4956279274091613752;0675370

If you want to exchange your charger for a new one, visit one of the Nokia Care Centers or ask for one online. If you have one of these chargers, Nokia recommends that you stop using it immediately.
